April 01, 2026In a landmark moment for the scholarly study of magic, Indiana University’s Lilly Library has announced the acquisition of the David Ben Magic Collection. The Lilly Library is one of the nation’s preeminent rare books, manuscripts, and special collections libraries.

Robert Harbin (1908-1978) was born in in South Africa and came to London at the age of Twenty. He was a prolific inventor of magic and one of the first magicians in the United Kingdom to perform on television. His books are now rare and sought after among collectors.
Arthur Buckley (1890-1953) was an Australian born magician who came to the United States and performed in Vaudeville.
